Overview

We want the images we use to be positive and aspirational

As an organisation dedicated to supporting the people of Somerset, we aim to present images of our residents in a positive and aspirational light wherever possible. This means that our residents should be seen as active, not simply as recipients of services. This is particularly true of residents from minority and disability groups, where we seek to present positive images wherever possible.

Quality of images

In Print – high resolution, so the photos are not pixelated. They need to be a minimum of 300dpi.

Online – the good news is that photos taken on your phone can work online. Anything 72dpi and above can be used.

More guidance on images for the web can be found here.

How to take great photos on your phone

Hackney Council has created a helpful guide so you can take and share photos and videos from your smartphone. View the guide and other useful information about images.

Clip Art

Somerset Council publications will aim to use suitable photographs to support our brand identity. Therefore, clip art will not be used in our design work. Instead, the design team can help by creating custom illustrations if required.

Mapping

All mapping must derive from our corporate mapping software and must display the Somerset Council copyright statement.
