  1. Content values and charter

Our Content Charter

We have set up a content charter that explains how we work and what we believe in. It helps new team members understand us and reminds everyone of what we have agreed to do.

Our purpose

  • Provide up-to-date and high quality content presented in the best way.
  • Make information easy to read and simple to use for our users.
  • Keep messages short and easy to understand.
  • Represent the council with our content.
  • Support our services to get the right information online.

Our principles

  • We always think about the people who use our content.
  • There are no silly questions, and it is always ok to ask for more information.
  • We look for answers to every problem.
  • We will work as a team to solve problems.
  • We know we can ask for help at any time.
  • We are always open and honest.
  • We work hard, but we also support each other to keep a good home-life balance.

Learning and sharing

  • Learn about new services and the people who use them.
  • Help services think about digital ways of working.
  • Keep improving how we work.
  • Share what we are working on with others
  • Everyone has the opportunity to learn.
  • Ask for help when you need it.

Supporting each other

  • Check in with each other often.
  • Encourage asking for help.
  • Help review each other’s work.
  • Meet regularly to share and discuss problems.

Looking back after a project

After we finish a big content project, we have a team chat to look back at how things went. Everyone gets a chance to speak in a safe and friendly space.

We talk about:

  • What went well
  • What didn’t go so well
  • What we learned
  • What we could do differently next time

From these chats, we come up with ideas we can actually try out to make our work better.
